Position Summary:
This position will report to the Fund Controller, will lead, train and supervise a Senior Corporate
Accountant and provide support to the Vice President of U.S. Taxation and Director of Finance.
The Accounting Manager will oversee the monthly close process for all fund corporate entities,
assist with the preparation and review of fair value quarterly financial statements, oversee the
mezzanine loan accounting, manage cash flows for corporate entities and lead process
improvement initiatives across the accounting department.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise the daily accounting process for all fund corporate entities; coordinate with property accounting, finance and other teams to manage a timely and effective close process
Assist with the preparation and review of monthly financial reporting packages and quarterly fair value financial statements
Work closely with the Fund Controller the Chief Accounting Officer on identifying and providing solutions to financial reporting issues
Assist with continuous improvement of processes, policies, controls and documentation
Manage cash flow and approve payable invoices for all fund corporate entities
Review general ledger monthly account reconciliations, including transactions with other fund entities
Assist with multiple audits and tax return filings by providing supporting documentation and assisting with the coordination of the audit and tax teams
Prepare ad‐hoc reports for executive management
Assist with the planning and implementation of multiple company‐wide projects
Hire, train, effectively lead and develop team members. Motivate and promote professional excellence, professional development and company culture. Provide regular feedback, assist with establishing clear priorities and goals
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; accounting/finance majors and CPA preferred
Minimum of 4‐7 years of commercial real estate accounting experience
Investment accounting and corporate accounting experience preferred
Excellent communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills necessary
Must be a motivated self‐starter with strong team leadership and problem‐solving skills, the aptitude to think independently, and the motivation to work with a team in an entrepreneurial environment
Ability to perform research and come up with conclusions to be presented to the leadership team
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to forge effective working relationships throughout accounting team and organization
Outgoing and likeable personality with ability to motivate and communicate well with employees and other outside contacts
Ability to multi‐task, with attention to detail and an ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Ability to read and understand complex joint venture agreements and entity structures.
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office; MRI accounting software or equivalent experience with enterprise accounting systems
